Family Christmas in Vegas

12 February 2012

As of lately, my family has been spending the holidays away from home. It's a new way to celebrate, and so far it's been enjoyable! Last year we visited family and friends in southern California. This year, we went big in Las Vegas, NV.
Honestly, I thought I'd be more impressed with Las Vegas. Maybe it was the time of the year we visited, or maybe it was the high prices, but one way or another I wasn't wowed by the city. But we did get to see a lot of great shows. We saw Love: The Beatles Cirque Du Soleil and The Blue Man Group, which were both good.
And on Christmas Eve, we spent the entire day at Qua -- the Cesaer's Palace spa. It was worth every penny of our $45 unlimited spa day package. We were treated to a chill room, steam room, three temperature pools, a giant whirlpool, heated stone beds, a suana and so much more. It was truly relaxing.
In the evenings, we dined at the buffets, Serendipity, and Wolfgang Puck's restaurants. My favorite meal of all was at the Hash House A Go Go for breakfast one morning. Their chicken and bacon waffles are hard to beat, but everything on the menu made my mouth water. The four of us ordered different meals and sampled each of them. You just can't go wrong; the food was the best we had in all of Vegas.
Most of the days we spent walking up and down the strip, viewing the Christmas decorations overwhelming the lobbies and entrances of the finest hotels. We stayed at the Luxor, which we later regretted. Although it was clean and peaceful, it was so far from the places we enjoyed most. At a later date, I'd choose the Flamingo on budget or the Cosmopolitan for a little more style.
Although I wasn't very thrilled about the Vegas outcome, I loved spending time with family and experiencing yet another city in the states. I'll be back, but with a different agenda!
